Telemundo and the U.S. Soccer Federation have announced a significant extension of their Spanish-language media rights agreement, securing their collaboration through 2030. This renewed partnership solidifies Telemundo's role as a primary broadcaster for U.S. soccer events, building upon their initial success since acquiring the rights in 2023. The deal promises comprehensive coverage of men's, women's, and youth national team matches, utilizing Telemundo's diverse broadcasting and digital platforms. This strategic move aims to deepen fan engagement and expand the reach of U.S. soccer to a vast Spanish-speaking audience across the nation, positioning both organizations for continued growth in the lead-up to and beyond major global football tournaments.

The extended agreement outlines that Telemundo will broadcast more than 20 U.S. National Team games each year. These broadcasts will be accessible across a multitude of NBCUniversal's properties, including the primary Telemundo channel, Universo, the streaming service Peacock, and various digital platforms like Telemundo Deportes Ahora and its dedicated FAST channel. Key events such as the SheBelieves Cup and select matches from the CONCACAF Nations League, featuring both the women's and men's national teams, are integral parts of this extensive coverage. Furthermore, the partnership includes broadcasts of U.S. Soccer Youth National Team fixtures, fostering a pipeline for future talent and engaging younger fan bases. The financial aspects of this renewed deal were not publicly disclosed, but insiders suggest a substantial increase in value compared to the previous contract, underscoring the growing importance and viewership of soccer among Spanish-speaking communities.

U.S. Soccer's Chief Commercial Officer, David Wright, expressed his enthusiasm for the continuation of this alliance. He emphasized Telemundo's crucial role in connecting with one of the most passionate and influential fan demographics in the country. Wright highlighted that the partnership extends beyond mere distribution; it represents a commitment to reaching new audiences, enhancing fan engagement, and ensuring that more supporters can follow their teams during pivotal moments, particularly with an eye towards the 2026 World Cup and subsequent years. This strategic alignment aims to capitalize on the increasing popularity of soccer in the United States, leveraging Telemundo's expertise in delivering high-quality sports content to its extensive audience.

The timing of this announcement is particularly pertinent, as Telemundo is currently preparing for its extensive coverage of the FIFA World Cup in Spanish over the coming weeks. The network is renowned as the Spanish-language home for prestigious international football events, including the FIFA World Cup, FIFA Women’s World Cup, and the Olympic Games. This ongoing commitment to major global tournaments reinforces Telemundo's standing as a premier destination for soccer fans. Joaquin Duro, Executive Vice President of Sports and Head of Streaming at NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises, stated that the new agreement provides an invaluable opportunity to chronicle the national teams' journeys and interact with audiences across all platforms in the years leading up to 2030.

This expanded collaboration also promises to unlock fresh opportunities for captivating storytelling. Telemundo will gain exclusive behind-the-scenes access to critical events such as qualifying and send-off matches leading into and following the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027, the Olympic Games LA28, and the FIFA World Cup 2030. This access will enable Telemundo to offer viewers unique insights and deeper narratives surrounding the teams, further enriching the fan experience. The enhanced content will provide unparalleled access to player preparations, team strategies, and personal stories, creating a more intimate connection between fans and their national heroes. This holistic approach to coverage underscores both organizations' dedication to growing the sport's cultural footprint.

The extended partnership between Telemundo and the U.S. Soccer Federation until 2030 marks a significant milestone in sports broadcasting. It ensures that Spanish-speaking audiences will continue to enjoy extensive coverage of U.S. National Team matches across various platforms. This collaboration not only strengthens Telemundo's position in the sports media landscape but also promises enhanced fan engagement through comprehensive live broadcasts and exclusive behind-the-scenes content, aligning with the rising enthusiasm for soccer in the United States.
