A collection of personal artifacts and 'Friends' television series scripts belonging to the esteemed actor Matthew Perry are currently being made available through an auction. This philanthropic endeavor is organized in collaboration with his dedicated nonprofit organization. The total proceeds generated from this charitable sale will be directed towards furthering Matthew Perry's profound mission: to cultivate a world free from the prejudice associated with addiction, ensuring that every individual seeking rehabilitation has access to essential care, resources, and a supportive community for their journey to recovery and well-being.

Heritage Auctions has declared that the net income from this auction will uphold Matthew Perry's most significant legacy, focusing on constructing a future where the stigma around addiction is eradicated. This will provide necessary care, resources, and community support for everyone pursuing recovery. Additional beneficiaries include the Matthew Perry Foundation Fellowship in Addiction Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and Healing Appalachia, a sober music festival dedicated to recovery. Grassroots recovery grants will also be provided to other organizations working on the front lines of addiction support.

Joe Maddalena, executive vice president at Heritage Auctions, highlighted Perry's unique connection with his audience. He stated that the actor's professional work and candor fostered a global bond that extended beyond the screen. Maddalena emphasized that the auction brings together items and passions that defined Perry's life, offering fans a meaningful way to engage with his narrative. Crucially, this initiative transforms that connection into a force for good, bolstering the Matthew Perry Foundation and perpetuating his advocacy for those struggling with addiction. This serves as a potent testament to his enduring legacy and his commitment to uniting people in support of a cause he deeply cherished.

Among the noteworthy items from 'Friends' included in the auction are a compilation of 26 scripts, featuring popular episodes such as 'The One With Ross's Tan,' 'The One Where Joey Speaks French,' and the two-part series finale, 'The Last One.' Furthermore, two additional scripts, personally signed by Perry and his co-stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer, have been graciously donated by Warner Bros. The collection also boasts a unique photo album titled 'The One With the Last Supper,' which contains a heartfelt letter from 'Jenny,' and a replica of the iconic yellow peephole frame from Monica's apartment, a beloved symbol from the show.

Also available for bids is Perry's SAG Award, which he received in 1995 for outstanding ensemble performance in a television comedy series, alongside significant artworks from renowned artists like Banksy and Mel Bochner. The proxy bidding for the Matthew Perry Estate Auction has commenced, enabling collectors to place their bids ahead of the live event. These items will be on public display at Heritage Auctions' Beverly Hills showroom from May 18-29. The live auction is scheduled to take place on June 5, both online and in person in Dallas.

Lisa Kasteler Calio, CEO of the Matthew Perry Foundation, reiterated Perry's belief that addiction should be addressed with empathy and scientific understanding, rather than with judgment and silence. She asserted that this auction provides crucial funding for the foundation's initiatives, which aim to broaden access to evidence-based care and confront the pervasive stigma associated with addiction. Calio emphasized that this auction represents another way to ensure that no individual has to confront this devastating disease in isolation, thereby perpetuating Perry's compassionate mission.

The auction of Matthew Perry's personal possessions and 'Friends' memorabilia is a poignant tribute to his life and ongoing commitment to addressing addiction. The initiative, orchestrated in partnership with his foundation, aims to foster a future devoid of addiction stigma by making recovery resources and care accessible to all. Beyond the opportunity for fans to acquire cherished items, the auction serves as a powerful continuation of Perry's advocacy, channeling collective support towards a cause that profoundly resonated with him.
