The highly anticipated film adaptation of Colleen Hoover's bestselling novel, 'Verity,' has just unveiled its first compelling trailer. Starring Dakota Johnson, Anne Hathaway, and Josh Hartnett, the movie promises a gripping psychological thriller. The preview hints at a narrative filled with dark secrets and an ominous atmosphere, leaving audiences eager to uncover the unsettling truths that lie beneath the surface.

'Verity' Trailer Reveals Ominous Undertones and Star-Studded Cast

On Monday, April 27, 2026, the official teaser trailer for the film 'Verity' was released, immediately capturing attention with its suspenseful tone. Anne Hathaway's character delivers a chilling line: "Even with my continuous warning, you’re going to continue to ingest my words. But know one thing: There is no light where we’re going." This sets a foreboding mood for the movie, which centers around Lowen Ashleigh (Dakota Johnson), a struggling writer hired by Jeremy Crawford (Josh Hartnett) to complete novels for his injured wife, Verity (Anne Hathaway). As Lowen settles into the Crawfords' home to work, she uncovers unsettling facts about Verity, suggesting that not everything is as it appears. The trailer also teases a burgeoning romance between Lowen and Jeremy, complicated by Verity's constant, unsettling presence. Early footage of the film was initially showcased at CinemaCon in Las Vegas during Amazon's presentation. Directed by Michael Showalter, who previously collaborated with Hathaway on 'The Idea of You,' the screenplay was penned by Nick Antosca, building upon earlier drafts by Hillary Seitz, Angela LaManna, and the team of Will Honley and April Maguire. The production team includes Hathaway, Hoover, Showalter, Antosca, Alex Hedlund, Stacey Sher, and Jordana Mollick. 'Verity' is another addition to the growing list of adaptations from Colleen Hoover's literary universe, following the successes of 'It Ends With Us' and 'Reminders of Him.' The film is slated for release on October 2, 2026.

This initial glimpse into 'Verity' suggests a cinematic experience that will delve into the complexities of human nature and the unsettling reality of hidden secrets. The film appears poised to explore themes of deception, perception, and the psychological weight of unspoken truths, leaving viewers to ponder the true nature of the characters and the darkness that Hathaway's warning portends. The star power of Johnson, Hathaway, and Hartnett, combined with Hoover's established storytelling, creates high expectations for a memorable and thought-provoking thriller.
