In a groundbreaking development for professional wrestling, WWE's developmental brand, NXT, is set to bring its premium live events to broadcast television for the first time. The CW network has secured a multiyear agreement to exclusively air NXT's major shows, a move that significantly broadens the reach of these events beyond their previous streaming-only availability.

This new broadcast partnership represents a major strategic shift for NXT. Previously, these premium events, formerly known as pay-per-views, were primarily accessible through the Peacock streaming service. Following the conclusion of that arrangement last month, one event was briefly offered for free on NXT's YouTube channel, indicating a search for a new distribution model. The CW, which already hosts NXT's weekly episodic program on Tuesdays, emerged as the frontrunner and eventual partner for this expanded coverage.

The deal officially kicks off this summer with "The Great American Bash." Over the next several years, The CW will broadcast 20 live NXT premium events across both coasts. Notable events like "Stand and Deliver," "Deadline," and "Vengeance Day" are slated to be part of this exclusive programming. This collaboration solidifies The CW as the singular destination for all NXT content, from weekly shows to its most anticipated specials.

Brad Schwartz, President of The CW, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting NXT's consistent ability to draw a dedicated fanbase to the network's Tuesday night lineup. He noted that integrating NXT's premium live events into their schedule is a logical progression, offering a unified platform for fans to engage with their favorite superstars, compelling storylines, and championship contests. This follows The CW's five-year agreement with WWE in October 2024, which initially brought NXT to broadcast television for its weekly programming, where it has reportedly performed exceptionally well for the network.

Shawn Michaels, WWE Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative, emphasized the positive impact The CW has had on elevating the profile of NXT's emerging talent. He voiced excitement about presenting NXT's premium live events to a broader broadcast audience for the very first time. NXT has historically served as a launching pad for numerous top stars currently featured on WWE's main roster, including celebrated names such as Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, and Rhea Ripley, among many others.

The CW's accessibility as a free, over-the-air network means that these premium NXT events will now be available to a much larger audience without requiring a separate subscription. This stands in contrast to the recent past when all WWE content, including its premium events, was housed under Peacock, offering what many considered a substantial value for fans. Currently, WWE's major premium live events are distributed by ESPN in the United States and Netflix internationally, with Netflix also carrying the flagship series "Monday Night Raw." "WWE SmackDown" airs on the USA Network, further diversifying WWE's content distribution landscape.

This landmark agreement ensures that NXT's premier showcases will reach a wider audience than ever before, elevating the brand's visibility and providing a new avenue for fans to experience the rising stars of professional wrestling.
