New Cast Members Join Justin Hughes' Gaming Cyber Thriller 'Streamer'

Ricky Gervais

Comedian, writer, and actor who created "The Office" and writes provocatively on comedy and society.

A fresh wave of talent is joining the cast of 'Streamer,' the eagerly awaited gaming psychological thriller helmed by writer and director Justin Hughes. This production promises to explore the darker side of internet streaming, introducing a chilling new antagonist into the digital realm.

Freddy Piazza, known for his work in the short film 'Overdue' and various independent stage productions, is set to star as Teddy, a prominent yet polarizing internet streamer. The narrative centers on Teddy's entanglement in a perilous game of wits with an enigmatic troll driven by a personal vendetta. Joining Piazza are Rachel Alig, recognized from 'Mistake' and 'Found Footage,' Francesca Rowe, who has appeared in microdramas such as 'Playing it Real,' and K.C. Wolf, from 'Yesterday.' This quartet of actors will bring Hughes’ vision to life, with principal photography scheduled to take place across Los Angeles and Ventura later this spring.

This project marks Justin Hughes’ directorial debut in feature films, following a successful run with his short films. His earlier works, including 'A Curious View' and 'Fractal Chaos,' have garnered critical acclaim at film festivals nationwide, such as the Catalina Film Festival and the LA Shorts International Film Festival. The production is being managed by Casey Krehbiel through his company, Blue Bow Tie Productions, with Jaime Gallagher, CSA, serving as both co-producer and casting director. The film is poised to capture the intense and often unsettling aspects of modern online interactions, offering audiences a thrilling cinematic experience.

The creation of compelling narratives like 'Streamer' not only entertains but also prompts contemplation on the intricate dynamics of our increasingly digital lives. By showcasing the potential pitfalls and psychological complexities inherent in online interactions, such films encourage a more mindful engagement with technology and foster greater awareness of the real-world impact of virtual actions. This artistic endeavor contributes to a broader understanding of contemporary social issues, promoting introspection and dialogue.
